Gonna be a busy week here, so I’ll try to cover a lot of ground at once.
Becky’s folks arrive tomorrow for a sight-seeing trip, but it looks like you still have to go pretty far north of us if you want to see leaves turning. We’re supposed to get a real nice display this year, say the folks who purport to know about such things, but it hasn’t really started yet. I then leave on Thursday to go see my family and celebrate my Aunt’s 80th birthday.
Becky and I may have found a new TV show to make plans to watch, ABC’s Lost. Just the right amount of interesting and cheese to make us curious to see more. For those like me, who usually don’t pay any attention to TV’s offerings, Lost is about the 40-some-odd survivors of a plane crash on a remote tropical island. We’ve met the handsome doctor, the spunky hot chick, the mysterious bald guy, the black fellow and his son, the suspected terrorist, the washed-up rock star (played by LOTR’s Merry), the spoiled white girl, the pregnant lady, the funny fat guy, the major asshole, and the inscrutable Asians. Next week I suppose we’ll meet the nun, the type-A businessman, the engineer, the homosexual, the crooked politician, the ninja, and the hooker with a heart of gold. In the first two episodes we discover that there’s some kind of giant creature on the island, the suspected terrorist is an Iraqi, one of the survivors was a prisoner being transported by a federal marshall (and who the prisoner is), the rock star has a drug problem, black guy’s ex-wife recently died, mysterious bald guy has a mysterious secret, spoiled girl speaks French, someone on the island has been transmitting a distress call for about 16 years, and there’s a polar bear on the island (or was, until major asshole shot it with the gun he took from the federal marshall’s ankle holster.) Also, someone on the flight reads comic books…in Spanish! Dumb fun until we get bored with it.
Speaking of comic books, this last week was super-light for me. Only things that came in for me were Adam Strange #1 and the Scandalous GN, so I didn’t go up to Northampton to pick them up. I will go this week, though, so that I’ll have some new stuff to read on my trip.
Whatever part of the weekend I didn’t spend helping to clean the house up for our guests’ arrival I spent in front of the PS2, playing Ratchet and Clank. Longtime readers will remember me talking about this a while back, but I got sidetracked by a few other games. Now I’m back on it (I ended up starting over) and near the end. It’s a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to getting the sequel.
I forgot to write last week about the Great Sock Purge. I decided that I hated all my socks and got rid of every single pair and bought new ones. This sounds trivial, but let me just say, that it’s a wonderfully comforting exercise for some reason, and I heartily recommend doing this every so often.
By the way, I’ve been throwing some reviews into the slightly re-redesigned LegOpinions, and plan to throw in a bunch more soon, so keep an eye out for that.
Also, and maybe I should write about this in its own entry, but I’m thinking of retiring Legomancer. Not the site, but the name. Being just plain Dave Lartigue, writing on a website. I can’t really articulate why I’ve been thinking about doing this, and I have no idea of what the odds of it happening are, but if you have strong feelings one way or another, please let me know.
(PS – take note of the updated blogroll to the left. I’ve added blogs new and old by friends old and older. Enjoy!)
