On Thursday Becky gave me an ultimatum: it was my job to come up with entertainment for the weekend, or else we’d be painting the TV room. I puzzled and puzzed till my puzzler was sore. Finally on Friday I told her, “Okay, I got it. I know what we should do this weekend.”
“I think we should paint the TV room.”
“What!?” she exclaimed.
“Well, it needs to be done, we’ve got three days to do it, let’s just get it over with.”
“You jerk!” she said. “That was a bluff! I don’t want to do that now!”
So we didn’t. Instead, we did a pleasant melange of activities including, but not limited to:
Did some shopping in the Enfield mall Friday night. Becky got some clothes, I got the game Beyond Divinity (which I’ve only barely started).
Went to NoHo with Eric the next morning, got some used CDs (A Cracker CD we’d never heard of, and “Whatever and Ever Amen” by Ben Folds Five), I picked up the McSweeney’s #13, the new one about comics, and we had Indian food. Then came back and had a nap. That night we started to watch a movie, but were interrupted by a phone call from our old friends Ken and Amy, who it was great to hear from again.
Sunday was largely spent gaming. The gang came over and we played a little In Nomine, which I had never played before. That was followed by Twilight Imperium, a space wargame. Due to all kinds of weird starting factors, TJ just steamrolled over everyone.
Monday we went back up to NoHo, and I went to Modern Myths’ 3/$1 back issue sale (more on that in another entry). Then we dropped off boxes for TJ and Mary, and after that we went to Mt. Tom and did some hiking.
Last night we finished watching the movie started before (Big Fish – more on this in Legopinions).
It was a nice relaxing weekend, all told.
