(Okay so the title is actually from Sinistar but what my novel presupposes is, what if Sinistar was Diablo in Space? Think about it.)

Anyway, this weekend there was an open beta for Diablo 3. You all know I am a big fan of Diablo 2 and have been looking forward to D3 for some time now. At long last it’s coming out (May 15) and folks had the chance to try it out.

Since this computer was bought knowing it wouldn’t be a game machine, I have had low hopes that it would be able to run D3. The plan was that eventually I’d get a newer Mackboop which, though not being state-of-the-art for 2016 or whatever, would be state-of-the-art for now, and then I’d be able to play.

Nevertheless I downloaded the beta client and give it a whirl. It took forever to get in; first the servers melted from the number of people trying the game and then they throttled the number of players, so for a while I simply confirmed that my computer can display Diablo 3 error messages (or at least error 37).

Eventually, though, I got in. And sure enough…

…I can play it!

Seemed to work just fine! I created a character named Bonkster, ran around, killed some zombies, grabbed some loot, it was a good time. I didn’t stay on for long because I knew there was a long line of folks behind me trying to get in as well.

Guys I am so excited!
