This is Misha. He’s an orc, and he was my first Shadowrun character. I describe him here like this:
My character is a Russian Ork named Misha. In a world run by corporations, he’s a Communist revolutionary, clad in camo fatigues and a red beret. (Yes, think Monsieur Mallah from the ‘Doom Patrol’ comic.) He’s also the weapons specialist, so he has lots and lots of guns. He’s getting ready for the glorious revolution. I decided to have him shun cybernetics as being ‘bourgeoisie,’ but this has elicited gasps from people who actually know the game (I’ve only played it once before) and I’ve been told that I may want to reconsider this.
That was back in 2003, and it was the first “real” time I’d played Shadowrun. I was fortunate to have it run by a GM who was able to make me look past the fact that Shadowrun is, to me, a dumb setting and a dumb system. It was fun, and fun always wins out.
Sadly, that blog post is dated September 15, and by December 9 he was kaput. It’s a lethal game and it’s best not to get too attached to one’s character.
I don’t know what’s up with his left hand.
