Still pretty busy, but let me tell you, I cannot wait for this:
It’s Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition, for the iPad! Read about it here.
Make way evil! I’m armed to the teeth and packing a hamster!
I can’t wait for Baldur’s Gate 2 for the iPad, according to that mock-up. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if the iPad port of the first game runs in the second game’s engine, which is the preferable way to revisit the Sword Coast in this day and age.
Also, typing that makes me idly wonder what licensing hoops they had to go through to port the game to tablets. I think Atari still owns the rights to publish D&D games, but do they have to also pay for the AD&D or Forgotten Realms license separate? Does anyone even know who owns the rights to the Infinity Engine these days? The mind boggles.
Also, I really hope “Enhanced Edition” incorporates a lot of the more sensible fan patches such as removing gender/race requirements from romances, the ability to take Jaheira along without her useless husband (without resorting to abandoning him on the top floor of The Friendly Arm Inn along with Dynaheir, Montaron, and the rest of the Unlovable Mandatory Companions), and perhaps most importantly, the ability to start the second game and skip the God Damned Introductory Dungeon. That being said, my twenty dollars are pretty much in their wallet already, so I can hardly blame them for not bothering.
