   See, as a Jew who has dealt with people of the type that article describes, I agree that much of ultra-orthodoxy within Judaism is a type of insane extremism that the world would be better off without. Especially considering many Reform and even Conservative Jews would vehemently disagree with the idea of women being inferior.

   Also, saying that Judaism “needs to be done away with, sooner the better” is quite the troubling statement, considering world history. Yes, I know what you mean, but still.

   I didn’t say that Jews themselves or even Judaism need to be done away with, I said that any religion that preaches this message needs to go away. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, I don’t care. If your religion teaches that women are inherently “tainted” in some way then we are all better off without it.

   Judaism as an ethnic/cultural category, I got nothing but love for. The people who’d benefit most from the end of religious Judaism are secular and reform Jews (The latter of which don’t actually believe in anything and just like the cultural traditions). Especially in Israel where we see the ultra-Orthodox pulling stunts like this, and constantly starting shit with the Arabs while they get exemptions from the army service all the other Jews have to do because they get to go to the Orthodox Superjew schools to learn how to properly follow the 616 pointless rules while the secular Israelis have to defend them, clean up after them, and deal with them constantly trying to ban billboards, pork, and the internet. Their stone age misogyny has no place in the modern world and while I’m aware that there are observant Jews who aren’t in sympathy with them, ultimately any serious attempt to follow the Torah and Talmudic laws are going to lead to sexism and racism….And as Dave says, we’re better off without it.
