The Worst Song

My blog was down yesterday, which prevented me from posting this, so here it is now.

I have decided that the song linked to below, “One Of Us” by Joan Osborne, is pretty much the worst song. I believe, without doing extended research, that it is the song I utterly loathe the most. I had mercifully forgotten it until the other night, when someone was watching “Glee” in another room and apparently they felt this sagging bag of tripe needed to be revived for some reason.

I cannot fully describe the amount of hatred I have for this thing. Its lyrics are inane, but pretend they’re deep and spiritual. I’ve actually had someone in the past suggest that I didn’t like it because it “challenged” me or some shit. If I made a sculpture that was supposed to represent everything I despise in the world, it would play this on an endless loop.

How about you? What’s your most hated song?

No really, probably that 4 Non Blondes song. Most songs I’ve hated have drifted into irrelevance or, at most, a dull annoyance, but I have hated that song for the entirety of its existence. It is just godawful and ugly.

KISS songs suck pretty hard, too.

Maura puts forward “Sweet Home Alabama.”

I would say “Hella Good” by No Doubt.

Poison’s “Something to Believe in” — i.e. how many social ills can we superficially address in a 3 minute song just to pretend we care?

    1. American Pie

    2. Bohemian Rhapsody

Blind Melon – No Rain I truly HATE that song. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to me.

The Joker by the Steve Miller Band. I also HATE I Shot the Sheriff. I cannot express how much I despise those songs. I know they are classics but then so is I’m a Little Teapot which in my opinion is far superior.
