Synnibarr Sunday: My Synnibarr Character, Dick Reckard, May or May Not be One of These

It’s time to talk about BSCs.

“BSC” stands for “Bio-Syntha Cyborg”. This is the “cyberpunk” portion of the sprawling buffet that is World of Synnibarr. BSCs are artificial life forms that are superior to most other characters in every way. Because of this, you have to roll three natural 20s on your stats to qualify to be one of these. I can’t imagine anyone rolling up a Synnibarr character says, “Well hell, that’s my third natural 20, but I think I’m still going to be an Archer.” Then again, I can’t imagine anyone rolling up a Synnibarr character, full stop.

Here are the important things to know about Bio-Syntha Cyborgs.

They have synthetic skin and blue blood. Their bones are made of an unnamed substance that is like glass but even stronger than hadrathium, I don’t know what hadrathium is.

Originally they were created by Synnibarr’s vast computer complex. These days they’re grown in vats in BSC guild halls.

There are four different flavors of BSC: Generator (can cast spells), Genetec (can have mutations), Infiltrator (Ninjas, of course), and Warrior (warrior).

Within the worldship there is a ruined city called The Womb which is still creating special evil BSCs called Omni BSCs. They have all four flavors at once, which make them especially dangerous. “They are unstable and cannot be trusted”. You can identify these because they have a black circle tattooed on their right palm.

BSCs can heal 100 life points per day because they have “natural picoborgs”.

They are not shut down by the Dark Continent, but their powers are limited there. They’re even more limited within the Center of the World.

Since they can reproduce any sound they hear and project it at up to 140 decibels, they are walking boomboxes. However, sonic attacks can cause a system shutdown in a BSC.

Genetec BSCs have a footlocker called an ID that can actually store mutations in it for the BSC to use.

BSCs cannot use Venderant Nalaberong until they become immortal.

BSCs start with no money because they have no parents. They can, however, pick up $300 during their training by doing odd jobs.

Warrior BSCs can materialize weapons made out of energy in their hands. These weapons deteriorate and go away after 24 hours. The weapons are: Mundane Weapons, Sonic Blaster, Big Gun (available at 20th level), and Midnight Sunstone Bazooka (available at 40th level).

Although it’s difficult and requires concentration, BSCs can dominate computers.

    I like how you can read any one of these bullet points and get a good hint of what Synnibar appears to be about.
