I’ll admit it; they’re pretentious, silly, and have too much time on their hands, but I like steampunk people. Maybe it’s because they actually do and make things unlike a lot of people I know who are just smoking pot, watching adult adult swim (presumably the former makes the latter endurable), and playing video games all the time. They also tend to have kind of an anarchistic bent to them whereas most nerds, as I’ve noted before, have a prominent inner fascist. Maybe we know different steampunk fans?
