People Who Are Not Like Us

A look at people who don’t operate the same way we do.

1) Michael Chertoff

Unlike you or I (unless you are him), he is the Secretary of Homeland Security. Also unlike you or I, he can ignore an entire branch of the government if it inconveniences him.

The Department of Homeland Security, which used its congressionally mandated power to overturn a federal judge’s decision blocking construction of a fence on the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona, says any further delay in the project would be an “unacceptable” national security risk.

American government: built on a solid foundation of  checks and balances  razor wire!

2) William Kristol

He is the editor of “The Weekly Standard” and a frequent face on political talking heads shows. He understands, unlike you and I, that dictators are only bad when they want to do things we don’t like.

This is the Marcos moment, I think, where we tell our ally, the friendly and decent dictator, that his time has passed.

The problem with these friendly dictators is they end up wanting to hang on, they like being dictators beyond when it is in their country’s national interest, and beyond when it is in our interest.

America: spreading  Democracy  friendly dictatorships throughout the world!

3) Saudi Arabia

Speaking of our friends, the Democracies, you already know how our best non-Jewish buddies in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, provided most of the 9/11 hijackers, right? Here’s how our good friends there deal with people who break the law. A woman was gang-raped fourteen times. The punishment? 200 lashes. But not for the rapists.

A Saudi woman has been sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in prison after she was the victim of a gang rape.

The sentence against the 19-year-old Shia woman from Qatif, in the Eastern Province of the country, was passed because she was in the car of a man who was not a relative at the time of the attack, which contravened strict Saudi laws on segregation.

A court had originally sentenced the woman to 90 lashes and the rapists to jail terms of between 10 months and five years but increased the punishment after an appeal, saying the woman had tried to use the media to influence them.

America: defending  Justice  friendly dictatorships throughout the world!

Your lesson here is that as long as you do what right-wingers want you to do, no rules, ethics, or common human decency apply to you!
