They’re Not Even Pretending Anymore, Are They?

We look upon authority too often and focus over and over again, for 30 or 40 or 50 years, as if there is something wrong with authority. We see only the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don’t see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.

Rudy Giuliani loves Big Brother.

Note, this quote is pre-9/11. It’s from a speech he gave in 1994. So you can imagine what he thinks now.

I.. I thought Republicans were supposed to be about… less government?

  2. Charlie says:

Nothing wrong with government, authority etc… as long as those people that are in positions of power remember that they are supposed to be representing someone and can still be held accountable for their actions…unfortunately, we no longer have accountability for those people that are in positions of authority be they democrats or republicans. I find both to be out for themselves and not the people they are supposed to be representing.
