    Actually the Screaming Idol turns out to be a worthless hunk of clay and the scientists then go on ridiculing Doctor Strange for like 8 pages.

    I kid. Dormammu kills and eats them.

    When was this printed? It seems like it came from an era where the writer didn’t have much respect for the reader’s intelligence (Hmm… on the other hand, I have read a little of All-Star Batman, so that era never seems to have ended.)

    But looking at that caption, it is so obvious what the plot twist is going to be. Nowadays it would be part of a parody sketch where the idol was fake, but back in those days… I have a horrible suspicion that this story was being played straight.
